The branch is most active when it comes to tours. Each year, the branch aims to organise two tours for its members.
One tour is usually a relaxing, leisurely mini-coach journey around the chosen battlefield area. Normally there are 18-30 places available for this and we are often oversubscribed, with many of our friends from Norfolk crossing the border to come with us. The other is a more intense walking tour, taking in many sites on the ground and often confines itself to a particular Brigade or Division. This is really aimed at the 'hard core' of the branch who are not afraid of working up a bit of a sweat!
Both tours stay in excellent accommodation. We enjoy comfort at Suffolk branch so you will not be sleeping under canvas!
However, not all our tours are overseas. Each year we also have a number of one day or afternoon tours to local places of interest, such as the Suffolk Regiment Museum. Recent local tours have included Stow Maries Airfield in Essex, the National Memorial Arboretum at Stafford and a walk around Stowmarket, seeing it's many connections with the Great War.
If you are interested in details of our future tours, please come along to one of our branch meetings or contact us via this website.
